After arriving at the designated spot in Chandigarh, you’ll be greeted by a representative who will assist with a smooth transfer to your hotel. Upon checking in, take some time to relax and enjoy the comfort of your accommodation. Later, you can explore the scenic surroundings of Chandigarh, known for its well-planned architecture and greenery. In the evening, meet your road captain who will be leading the trip. You’ll be briefed about the terrain, safety measures, and the day-wise itinerary of the trip. Afterward, enjoy a delicious dinner and settle in for an overnight stay at your hotel in Chandigarh.
Start your day early to beat the city traffic and begin your journey towards the Himalayas via the Himalayan Expressway. As you ascend, the weather cools, and you’ll pass through scenic spots like Chail, a charming hill station in the lower Himalayan range, known for its lush greenery and orchards. After a short lunch break, continue your drive towards Narkanda, a serene town known as the fruit bowl of Himachal Pradesh. Surrounded by apple and cherry orchards, the aroma of deodar trees fills the air. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel, unwind, and enjoy a peaceful evening. Overnight stay in Narkanda.
Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the mountains, and after breakfast, continue your journey towards the Kinnaur Valley. Drive alongside the Sutlej River until you reach Karcham, where you’ll take a right turn to follow the Baspa River towards Chitkul. Known as the last inhabited village before the Indo-China border, Chitkul is a tranquil gem nestled in the valley. You can visit the famous “Hindustan ka Akhri Dhaba,” where travelers often stop for a meal. Enjoy a stroll along the riverside or explore the village. Dinner and overnight stay will be arranged at your hotel or homestay in Chitkul.
After a hearty breakfast, start your day’s drive back towards Karcham and proceed deeper into Kinnaur Valley. Follow the scenic road to Powari, and from there, take a left towards ReoKong Peo, the main town of Kinnaur district. As you continue, you’ll reach Kalpa, a picturesque village known for its panoramic views of the Kinnaur Kailash mountain range. Spend the evening relaxing in the serene environment, with the majestic mountains as your backdrop. You can also take a stroll through the local village and soak in the tranquil atmosphere. Overnight stay at a camp or homestay in Kalpa.
Begin your day with an early breakfast before setting off for the Spiti Valley. En route, you’ll travel along the famous Indo-Tibetan Highway, passing through rugged terrain and high-altitude landscapes. Stop at the Khab Bridge, where the Spiti and Sutlej rivers meet, for a quick photo break. Continue towards Nako, where you’ll take a break to visit the serene Nako Lake and enjoy lunch. After lunch, proceed into Spiti Valley, entering via the village of Sumdo. Just a few kilometers beyond, you’ll detour to visit Gue Monastery, home to the 500-year-old naturally preserved mummy. Arrive in Kaza by evening for dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel.
After breakfast, prepare for a full day of exploring Kaza and the nearby villages. Begin with a visit to the Key Monastery, perched on a hill overlooking the Spiti River. This ancient monastery is one of the largest in Spiti and offers stunning views of the valley. Continue to Langza, located at an altitude of 14,500 feet and famous for its Buddha statue overlooking the village. Head further to Hikkim, home to the world’s highest post office, and then proceed to Komic, one of the highest motorable villages in the world. After exploring these beautiful, high-altitude villages, return to Kaza for dinner and an overnight stay.
Today’s journey takes you to one of the most stunning locations in Spiti Valley — Chandratal Lake. After breakfast, drive towards Kunzum La Pass, which offers mesmerizing views of the surrounding mountains. Upon crossing the pass, take a right turn towards Baltal and proceed to the crescent-shaped Chandratal Lake. The lake is renowned for its clear blue waters and surrounding natural beauty. Upon arrival, you’ll need to leave your vehicle and trek around 2 kilometers to reach the lake. After spending time by the lake, admiring the views and taking photos, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in camps near Chandratal Lake.
After a night under the stars by Chandratal Lake, have breakfast at the campsite before beginning your journey back to Manali. The drive today takes you through some of the most scenic and rugged terrain in the region. Cross the high-altitude Kunzum La and Rohtang Pass, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Arrive in Manali by the evening, check in to your hotel, and relax after the long journey. You can explore the local markets or enjoy the beauty of the town. Overnight stay at the hotel in Manali.
After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Manali and begin the drive back to Chandigarh. The drive takes you through the lush valleys and rolling hills of Himachal Pradesh, with plenty of scenic spots to enjoy along the way. You’ll reach Chandigarh by the evening, marking the end of your memorable Spiti Valley adventure. You can then proceed with your onward journey, carrying with you the unforgettable experiences of the trip.
